THE STAN PERRON CHARITABLE FOUNDATION STEPS IN TO ASSIST WA CHARITY GIVE WRITE

It was early 2020, and tens of thousands of teachers, parents and students across Western Australia faced the challenges of learning from home due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Many children and families were faced with an even greater challenge of being unable to afford the necessities of a "stay-at-home" education.

That's why the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation stepped in to help Give Write, a unique WA charity that could help meet this critical need.

Anita Bell from Give Write said with the outbreak of Covid-19, the charity experienced an unexpected increase in requests for assistance from teachers seeking supplies for their students without resources at home.

Part way through the first term, supplies had already been depleted at the commencement of the school year and Give Write was working hard to fulfil the orders.

Requests were being received from all areas throughout WA and came with additional costs for the charity to supply.

"Where previously we were able to call on visiting teachers and volunteers to deliver items, we had to rely on official transport organisations instead," Anita said.

Not knowing how long the crisis would last or the extent of its impacts, Anita said that aside from the home-schooling requirements, the charity expected a surge in requests due to higher unemployment levels and parents' inability to cover basic costs like school supplies.

Give Write take donations of new and pre-loved stationery from schools, corporations and the community to recycle, repackage and re-gift to kids in need in WA.

The Foundation is proud to support such a worthy organisation giving kids the opportunity to go to school or be at home with their own set of stationery and to feel engaged and inspired to continue to learn even in the most uncertain and challenging times.
